Our journey with Gulal spans generations — a legacy handed down from our forefathers. Ajay Aggarwal father started this business in 1930, working with what was known as Singapuri Gulal, where the starch was imported from Singapore and the dyes were brought in from the United Kingdom. In those early days, the process was entirely manual; ladies would mix colours by hand and spread them out on terraces to dry. We have been in Holi gifting for over 20 years now, partnering with some of the biggest companies for festive gifting. After my wedding, my wife joined me in the business and helped enormously in scaling our production, which freed me to focus on marketing and growth.
Harshit Agarwal, currently CEO at Gopal Colours. I joined in 2020 when COVID shut down my college and instead of sitting idle, my father brought me to work. I started from scratch — learning how Gulal is made, how our machines operate, and what makes our product truly different. We got our Gulal certified as skin-safe by NABL accredited laboratories and met all legal compliances, after which I began building our direct export network across countries worldwide. Growing up, I watched my grandfather experiment with new herbal Gulal varieties, and my father carried that same curiosity forward — always asking how things could be better, always open to new ideas. Somewhere along the way, that passion became mine too. Because colours, at the end of the day, are an essential part of life.
